It seems the IA32 emulation is currently turned off. Otherwise I haven't noticed any further issues so far (using the -generic kernel).

With the -current update (Fri Apr 10 23:44:57 EEST 2009) the kernel sources are a generic ones!

Not use -generic kernel? No problem!

cd /usr/src/linux
cp /boot/config-huge-2.6.29.1 .config
make oldconfig
make prepare

Enjoy!

Virtualbox, nVidia compile ok

confused ... Is the latest kernel source for the 2.6.29.1 kernel patched to use no-smp kernels? I receive invalid module format when trying to load kernel modules, e.g. KQEmu 1.4.0pre1 .

FATAL: Error inserting kqemu (/lib/modules/2.6.29.1/misc/kqemu.ko): Invalid module format

So, more details about this kernel sources.

All kernels are SMP capable!

Until the last kernel update there was the huge kernel sources. Since this update I provide the generic kernel sources only.

IF you are using the huge kernel for day to day work and need to compile stuff use what Polesz posted to prepare your kernel for compilation. This is have to be done only once!

If you are using the generic kernel for day to day work then you have to do nothing.

It is recommended to use the generic kernel after installation, the huge one is intended for installation or emergency situations.

You have the power to choose, you decide what to use. Enjoy!

Arny,

Apparently, slackpkg hasn't been installing the NEW packages so you can imagine my confusion at not even seeing a GENERIC kernel! Oops! Although, I've issued the commands to slackpkg to install NEW packages, it hasn't been doing so. I see now the generic kernels for 2.6.29.1 at data.bluewhite64.com . Until this problem is resolved with slackpkg, I'll just download the packages manually. Thanks...
