hello there arasek.

Well, I didn't understand your problem quite well, but I will try and help.

Which version of KDE4 are you running?

You said you can see the contents of the Desktop folder/directory in konsole/console or dolphin, right? Your complaint is because you can't see that content on your KDE4 desktop? If that's so, well, KDE4 doesn't have a Desktop, like KDE3 had. It uses Plasma.

But before saying anything else, I would like to see some more info from you.

Thanks

Kenjiro

Yes You understood it. I now it is plasma but i selected folder view in
Appearance settings, and i have that situation. When kde started i need to select our Desktop by mouse then I can see all icons. Sometimes i don't see all icons wihich exist <- i can see it in console or when I open dolphin. In Kubuntu i haven't problem with it ! Thanks for respone !

kde4 is a different kind of animal compared to kde3, but you can have icons on the desktop, nonetheless. now, that does not seem to be the design goal of kde4. I myself set up my application icons/links on folder views, and that works pretty nicely. within a folder view, you can align and sort icons, but that doesn't seem to be the case right on the plasma desktop. maybe you want to clean things up by erasing the ~/.kde directory and restarting your kde setup. with a folder view looking at your Desktop and all your application icons/links that you can muster in it might do the trick.

cheers!

Yeah, I would advise almost the same as ajam said. But first, just to avoid some possible headache, make a backup of your .kde directory. Something like:

mv ~/.kde ~/.kde-3.5

Then you start your KDE-4. It will start a fresh new configuration.

Try that and tell us if that helped.

(and if you did the backup, you can go back to KDE-3.5.10 whenever you want )
